It can be very pleasing to use a piece of software that does ‘what it says on the box’ but also does it in a way that is appealing and helpful. We think that Ashampoo Slideshow Studio HD is just such a piece of software. The product is designed to help you create multimedia slideshows and publish these on your television, PC, DVD, Blu-ray player or You Tube. 

The software is downloaded for free for a 10-day trial period, which can later be extended for a month, or purchased outright for between £7 and £20, depending on the vendor or offers available. Installation is quick and you are ready to work with your images. 

The displays are cleanly designed and easy to navigate and the process allows you to select the images you would like to include in your slideshow, select a theme, edit captions and text, select the transition effects as you move from one slide to the next, or you can leave this to Ashampoo Slideshow Studio. Background music can be added too and the show can be previewed before being saved ready for its public. 

Working in high definition requires that you have a computer of sufficient specification to handle the size of the data. 

Pros: Great effects and transitions from slide to slide; panning and zooming; output to many output formats (e.g. MPG, AVI, and WMV)

Cons: Watermarked slides using trial version; installation attempts changes to your browser homepage, default search engine and toolbar install. 

Conclusion: We think this is a good product with some excellent features. It is designed to rescue your photos from languishing undiscovered on your PC and we think it does that well.
